JORDAN PEEL
Designer
'The School of Rock'
During Jordan's interim week, she was asked to design and build a multi-functional set for St Thomas More School's production of 'The School of Rock'.
Based on the hit film, this hilarious musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at the prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight A students into a guitar shredding, bass slapping, mind blowing rock band. While teaching these pint sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school's beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within.
Each scene consisted of a different set and the set needed to be able to adapt to fit all of the scenes. She designed the set to include a small platform and castors so the set could rotate when needed. One side of her designs featured a school classroom wall which would be able to be used for all of the school scenes. The other side of the design included a brickwork texture which could alter depending on when needed. This was the most multi-functional piece of set for the entire production.
The production took place in early March 2022.
